Beginning in the 1800s, women organized, petitioned, and picketed to win the right to vote. On June 4, 1919 congress passed the 19 amendment and on August 18, 1920 it was ratified, giving all American women the right to vote. The women suffrage movement impact America society in numerous ways, it has prompted social and political reform which helped develop the League of Women Voters, the League of Women Voters helps educate women to be informed voters and exercise the right to vote a privilege many take for granted. For women to have the 19 Amendment they boycotted, lobbied, had hunger strikes, and advertised women's suffrage from post stamps to books and artwork, as well as banner and billboards. They marched and paraded through the streets and had massive street speakings and repeated nonviolent acts civil disobedience.
